Bunny Sjogren
Bunny Arlene Sjogren, March 24, 1947- May 28, 2020, of Parker Island, BC, died at Victoria Hospice, B.C..
Bunny was born in Duncan, BC and grew up on Vancouver Island, living in Cowichan Lake, Alert Bay, and Nanaimo. She is preceded in death by her first wife, Jane Mutti, father, Marvin Sjogren, mother, Kathleen (Kay) Morrison Sjogren. She is survived by her brother, David Sjogren (Nanaimo, BC), sister, Meg Conarroe (Qualicum, BC), many nephews and one niece, and her spouse of nine years, Connie Poppino.
Bunny initially attended Simon Fraser University (BC) for a degree as a teacher. However, she soon decided to pursue her deeper passions, and became a Massage Therapist, a Reiki Master in the Usui Lineage under Grand Master Phyllis Furumoto, and a Trainer through Psychology of Vision. Known to her friends as a ‘true healer’, she traveled the world sharing her knowledge, wisdom, love and commitment to helping others. She combined these gifts to help others to transform their pain into joy.
In addition to the world of spirit and healing, she had a unique gift of being able to figure out technology. She became a self-taught ‘wizard’ with computers, often helping others with their computer problems. She also developed a number of different websites, and acted as a webmaster for the Arizona community, where she and Connie lived during the ‘snowbird season.’ Through her unique way of being in the world, she was able to combine her love of healing with technology. For example, she acquired many different healing machines and utilized them to help others with their ailments. One in particular was the hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber at home on Parker Island, BC.
Her zest for living could be seen on the dance floor, on her sailboat Natu, in the sparkly hats she wore, and through her global travels. Amassing friends from all over the world, Bunny has been described as a unique and brilliant human being with descriptions such as a“bright light,” a “helper,” and a “shining star.”
She was committed to awakening at every level, to knowing and sharing the truth of who we really are: Infinite beings, much larger than the physical body, children of God, and pure love. Her favourite quote was “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.” Foundation for Inner Peace, A Course in Miracles.
Anyone who knew Bunny was challenged to be more present to life, and to know that we are all one.
Because of COVID limitations on gatherings, there will be no formal celebration of life at this time. To honour Bunny in the interim, please put on your favourite song and dance your heart out, hug a tree, or do a random act of kindness.
