April 21, 1949 – February 24, 2021
It is with sadness that we share the passing of Jerry on February 24, 2021, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, at age 71. He was the beloved partner to Pamela, father to Kendra (Mike) and Eryn (Dayna), doting grandfather to Oliver, Amelie, and Caleb, brother to Al (Sandie), and naptime coordinator to Bailey.
When not dozing over a book in his favourite chair, he could be found walking around Willis Point and Victoria at large with his partner Pam and their constant sidekick Bailey. He loved the freedoms of his retirement, hitting the gym, and jealously guarded his crossword puzzles from well-meaning helpers. He was always ready with a terrible Dad Joke, and loved his family fiercely, no matter how many times they rolled their eyes. His homemade pizza, day-old coffee, and plum wine were legendary, and dining al fresco while watching the boats in Todd Inlet was a favourite summer pastime.
A lifetime Pointer, he enjoyed sailing/motoring in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, using his well-earned vacation time from the Provincial Goverment IT department to explore the Gulf Islands with his daughters and then-wife, Janet. As time passed, his horizons grew, and there was a family road trip across the country, a bus tour through Europe, hiking in Peru, and RVing through New Zealand, peppered with smaller trips when he could be convinced to leave the beauty and comfort of home. He loved music and was an accomplished guitarist.
He will be sorely missed by friends and family, near and far. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Franko and the team at the Royal Jubilee. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in memorium.
