Jean McIntosh

Jean McIntosh

Jean passed away peacefully on February 7, 2021 in the comforts of her home with her daughters by her side. Born August 14, 1927 and raised on a farm in the McPherson District of Grenfell, Saskatchewan where she was 1 of 10 Busby children. Predeceased by her husband, Jim in 1981 as well as her parents James & Mary Josephine Busby, brothers Gordon, Ross, John, sisters Anne, Laura, Ieleen & Mary. Jean is survived by her children Sharon (Kevin), Ian, Sandra (Jim), Janice as well as her grandchildren Robyn (Andrew), Stacy (Carlyle), Arlen, Alyssa, Tyler (Christina), Kyle and great grandchildren Leo & Lucas. Jean is also survived by her brother Miller (Betty) and sister Olive Herbert along with numerous nieces & nephews. Jean moved to Victoria with her brother & sister in the late 1940’s. In 1949, at the age of 22 she met the love of her life, our Dad, who was from Glasgow, Scotland. They met at a dance at the Crystal Ballroom and later married in 1953 where thereafter, she created a loving household and raised 4 children. She was a homemaker that made home a special place and teaching us incredible values along the way. Jean was such a kind, loving person with a generous heart who cared deeply for her family, extended family & friends…as well as all of the pets that became part of our family. Jean’s favorite pastimes included many social events where she loved dancing, social gatherings at our family home, and enjoyed spending time with her children & grandchildren. Jean was an avid gardener with a green thumb that she took great pride in tending to her outdoor flowers and plants. This talent cultivated beauty to the yard & garden at her home of 53 years. Jean was a huge Toronto Blue Jays fan and enjoyed watching televised baseball games; she also had a fierce love for playing cribbage games with family & friends alike. Jean played every Monday & Thursday nights at the Britannia & Trafalgar Pro Patria Legions in Victoria with her siblings & friends. Jean’s love for crib games was a skill she passed down through the generations of family members that dared to learn & play the game with this veteran prairie girl; a Busby tradition that was never denied so long as she served you her favorite snacks and/or a wee drink to entice the player(s) to join in. Jean will be sadly missed but the memories she created through tradition and love will remain in our hearts forever. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Ted Rosenberg & team for their excellent, compassionate care as well as Joan Henderson VIHA & homecare staff that cared for Jean. Special thanks to Paula & Janet. Due to Covid restrictions, no service is planned at this time.
