Verlie Bergerman (nee Rees), 80, former resident of Winnipeg, Victoria and Sidney, died on January 12th, 2022 at Royal Jubilee Hospital surrounded by her family.
Verlie was born on Nov. 27, 1941 in Saskatoon to Geraldine and Derek Rees and grew up in Winnipeg. She was an only child, but gained a large extended family when she married Jerome Bergerman in 1964. They moved to Victoria in the early 70s and Verlie took great joy in raising her family. She was a dedicated and loving mother to Jacquie, Donna-Marie and David. She adored her grandchildren and great grandson and was a special friend to many. Verlie was an avid knitter, quilter, reader, crafter, and animal lover. She often rescued animals and cared deeply about animal welfare. She is fondly remembered as a generous and loving woman with a wonderful sense of humor and remains the fashion icon of our family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jerome, daughters Jacquie and Donna-Marie, son David (Crystal); grandchildren Katie (Tanner), Lauren, Oliver, and Isla; great grandson Wells. A private family ceremony will be held.

Jerome and family
We are so sorry to hear the sad news of Verlie. We have a lovely memory of that beautiful young bride full of love and enthusiasm for the future in front of her with Jerome by her side.
More recently we met her at Garden Works nursery on a quest to replace the pots that her dog is broken. She chuckled as she told us the story of their rambunctious behavior. It certainly was obvious how much she cared for her dogs.
We are hoping to support and reconnect with Jerome and family in the future. Sincerely Carol and Don Poy
Our most sincere condolences Jerome and family, from all of your dental class of 66. Jerome, I still remember our first Christmas party after our exams in December of 1962. This was your first date with Verlie. The start of many happy years and memories. Hopefully we can get together in the near future.
Our deepest sympathies.
Glen Wilson and Dental Class of 66
