Selma Renate Young

January 5, 1934 – April 9, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Mom and Oma, Selma passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 9th and has gone to join her beloved husband Jim.

Selma leaves behind daughter Diana (Raymond), son James (Cindy), son Alex (Diana), her grandchildren; Mary-France, Kevyn, James, Cody, Shawn, Brandon, Lexy, Kurtis and nine greatgrandchildren, predeceased by granddaughter Tiffany.

Selma was a devoted church member and proud farmer. She spent endless hours donating her time to the community including Central Saanich United Church, Saanich Fair and Our Place society. She will be remembered for her colourful knitting, her homemade cream puffs and always having an extra plate at the dinner table for friends and strangers alike. Selma will be remembered with great affection by her extended family and friends across Canada.

Thanks to all the doctors and nurses for their excellent care. A celebration of life will take place at Central Saanich United Church on Saturday May 13th at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, donations in Selma’s name can be made to Saanich Peninsula Hospital.

Respectful, caring, and accommodating

I met Leslie the day after my sweet Dad passed away. She was sensitive, respectful, caring, and accommodating.

The service she gave us from start to finish has been above and beyond, with her personally delivering a second urn to us one year later that should have been picked up by another family member.

I have come away from the whole experience with one final thought, I wish my Dad could have met her when he was alive, he would have enjoyed her too!
