Conrad Schiller, 86, passed away peacefully at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital on April 27th, 2023 from heart complications.
Conrad, Con, is survived by his wife of 65 years, Paulette, his 3 children; Roger, Colette & JeanPaul, 8 of 9 grandchildren and 16+ great-grandchildren as well as his sister, Solange.
He moved to Sidney in 1965 as part owner of the ‘Hotel Sidney’, from there he joined his brothers in a sheet metal partnership. Con will also be remembered for the many homes he built over the years, mostly on Southern Vancouver Island, each a masterpiece. Self taught there was nothing he could not do.
In his youth he built his own boat, from a set of plans, and was skiing at a CYO event, at Shawnigan Lake, where he met Paulette, the love of his life in 1957. They were married in her home town, Port Alberni, the next year.
Conrad was a loving family man, spending his retirement summers, with Paulette, in Parksville creating lifelong memories with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He loved being with people. Always social, he enjoyed his coffee mornings with the guys, Friday nights playing cards with friends and as much time with family as possible.
There will not be any memorial service as per Con’s request.
