The death occurred peacefully after a very short illness at Saanich Peninsula Hospital in British Columbia on Friday September 8th 2023 of Caroline MacDougall. Caroline was born to the late Alexander “Sandy” and Jessie MacKenzie in Long Creek, Prince Edward Island on September 18, 1931. In 1952, she married and moved to Ontario with her husband Allan “Lloyd” MacDougall. They moved to Milton in October 1955 and Lloyd predeceased her in 1985. Caroline is survived by her loving children Gary (Audrey) of North Saanich, BC and Judy of Toronto. Growing up in Canoe Cove PEI, she later attended the Normal School at Prince of Wales College and began her teaching career in the one room schoolhouse at Long Creek. While raising her children in Milton, she returned to the classroom and spent the majority of her career at Campbellville Public School and Robert Baldwin Public School. In retirement, Caroline spent many hours volunteering at Milton District Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Tinkerbell Nursery. For over 67 years, Caroline was a devoted member of Knox Presbyterian Church taking on many roles in the life of the church. She made many trips to family in the NWT and PEI, and enjoyed travelling and cruising many parts of the world with family and friends.
A Memorial Service will take place on Prince Edward Island in the summer of 2024. Donations in her memory may be made to the Milton District Hospital Foundation or Knox Presbyterian Church in Milton.
