LORENZ, Nelly
January 31, 1942 – December 28, 2023

After a long battle with dementia, Nelly Lorenz (Mischtschenko), 81, died peacefully on December 28, 2023 at Rest Haven Lodge, where she received outstanding and compassionate care.
Nelly was born on January 31, 1942 to Philip and Lydia Mischtschenko, in the town of Kriwoj-Rog, Ukraine. In 1960, while travelling to Victoria, B.C., she met and later married Edgar Lorenz (deceased).
Nelly is survived by her sister, Waltraud (Bernd) Wigger of Germany, her three daughters, Sandra (Robert) Ingram of Calgary, Alberta, Christina (Michael) Stoehr of Sidney, B.C. and Susan (Randy) Law of Brentwood Bay, B.C. as well as her grandchildren Malcolm, Sacha, Sydney, Christina, Scott, Nicholas and Megan.
Nelly had a love of music and sang with numerous choirs, including the church choir at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the Victoria Edelweiss Club.
Nelly also loved her work as a hairdresser and as a volunteer at Saanich Peninsula Hospital, which she did tirelessly for over 40 years. Spending time and helping the seniors brought her great joy.
Nelly will be cremated and her ashes will be laid to rest at Royal Oak Burial, with her late husband, Edgar. The date will be set at a later time when the family can all be together to honour her memory.
