With great sadness we announce the passing of Bruce McLarty. Two years following his cancer diagnosis, he bid farewell on April 5th, with his family by his side. His absence will be deeply felt. He will be missed by his wife Joyce, son Ian (Melanie), daughter Laura (Jared) and grandson Fletcher.
Bruce was born in Winnipeg on October 19th,1943 to Herbert Bruce and Agnes. At a young age, he and his parents moved to Toronto where he pursued his education and met his wife Joyce. It was there he began his career as a successful entrepreneur.
In 1999, the family moved to Vancouver Island. Shortly thereafter, they established roots in Sidney and opened McLarty’s Gifts & Furnishings. Bruce took great pride in being a prominent member of the community and remained an active member long after his retirement in 2009.
Bruce was known for his passion for sailing and tennis, both of which brought him immense joy throughout his life. His presence will be sorely missed not only on the courts and waters but also in our hearts and gatherings. His humour and kindness prevailed throughout his life and we celebrate the beautiful memories he left behind and the profound impact he had on each of us.
A Celebration of Life for Bruce McLarty will take place at the Sidney North Saanich Yacht Club on Saturday, July 27th from 3:00 to 5:00pm. Friends and family are welcome. Please RSVP to Joyce McLarty at mclartyb20@gmail.com
My sincere condolences on your loss dear Laura.
Warm regards, Barbara
