Frank Peter Jenkinson (1933–2025)
Peter Jenkinson, passed away peacefully at Kiwanis Pavilion Care home at the age of 91. A man of many talents and passions, Peter lived a rich and vibrant life that touched everyone around him. Peter spent his career as a skilled machinist and metalworker, crafting with precision and dedication. Beyond his professional life, he was an avid outdoorsman, scaling peaks as a rock climber and serving on a mountain rescue team to help others in need. His love for the natural world was matched only by his artistic spirit, expressed through his stunning watercolor paintings and deep appreciation for visual art.
In retirement on Pender Island, Peter immersed himself in creative pursuits, singing in a local choir and gracing the stage in community theatre. Among his many roles, he took particular pride in playing the butler in The Importance of Being Earnest.
Peter cherished music, especially the soulful sounds of the 1960s and The Moody Blues, whose lyrics often mirrored his thoughtful and adventurous outlook on life. A fitting quote from the band captures his essence: “now you know how nice it feels, scattered good seed in the fields, life’s ours for the making, eternity’s waiting, waiting for you and me.”
Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Delena Jenkinson; his daughter, Sarah Jenkinson; and his son, Caleb Jenkinson, and with Caleb’s wife, Aizlynn Johnston; and by his brother Bob Jenkinson and Bob’s wife Shirley Jenkinson.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered as a man who climbed life’s mountains with courage, creativity, and heart and enjoyed a glass or two of ale.
