Aaron Macri

Aaron Macri

Aaron Macri:
June 11 1976 – November 29 2024

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Aaron Richard Macri. Aaron was an amazing father, husband, son, brother, friend, and teacher. Aaron is remembered by his wife Becky, his son Benedetto, his dad Mario, and sister April, as well as all of his friends and family that meant so much to him. Aaron was born and raised in Trail and graduated from J.L. Crowe before continuing his studies at Selkirk College and then the University of Victoria. Aaron started his teaching career at Stelly’s Secondary School but spent the last 22 years teaching history , socials, and law at Claremont Secondary School. Even though Aaron made his home in Victoria, the Kootenays held a special place in his heart.

Aaron was a story teller and had the most impressive memory. He had a passion for history and pop culture. His love of the stories and worlds that were created in comic books was contagious. It was a joy to watch anything based on comic books or sci-fi with him because he had the ability to explain the back story, significance of plot points, and he could find all of the Easter eggs. He was a collector and loved toys from the 80s and one could not help but be impressed by his passion and knowledge. He loved his cars and could find all the hidden gems and delicious food places on a road trip.

Most of all he was kind, funny, loving, and loyal. His love and devotion to his son was unparalleled. He was a wonderful husband who was kind, supportive, adoring, and generous with his heart. He is so loved and so missed by everyone.

A celebration of life for Aaron will be held on Sunday, February 16th at Claremont Secondary School. The doors will open at 1:30 and the service will start at 2:00. Light refreshments will follow.

Any gifts and donations will be put towards a scholarship fund in Aaron’s name.
