Susan Vera Lang

Susan Vera Lang

On March 25, 2025, Susan Vera Lang (Mom), of Saanichton BC, passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Susan was born on June 18th, 1953 in Powell River BC, to Arthur & Theodosia Lang.

Susan was a talented hairdresser early in her life. In 1981 she attended Malaspina College (Nanaimo BC), where she graduated with her Social Worker’s Certificate. She enjoyed an accomplished career with the BC Ministry of Social Services until 2002 when she retired as Office Supervisor. In 2003 she completed the Resident Care Program in Victoria and provided homecare to seniors until she retired. Supporting and caring for people in need came naturally to Mom, which was reflected in the way her clients loved her.

Mom was a gifted crafter and gardener, an avid camper & traveller, and a successful race-car driver in her younger years. Mom loved classic movies, music (some favorites were Gordon Lightfoot, Traveling Wilburys and Elton John), and baking – her butter tarts were particularly outstanding. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mom was a warm, loving mother and grandmother survived by two daughters: Karen Brown (Michael Brown) and Sarah Winter (Abraham Pelkey); five grandchildren: Darcy Boscoe, Jessa McFadden-Phillips, Emma Pelkey, Nevaeh Pelkey and Jacob Pelkey. She is survived by her brother, Bill Lang; sisters, Patricia Rusnak and Roberta Wenner; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Sadly, Mom is recently predeceased by her sister & dear friend Marjorie Eden.

Mom was courageous, adventurous and inspirationally compassionate. A patient, intuitive, empathetic listener with a giving heart and a beautiful soul. Her kind-hearted smile and caring way touched all who knew her. The gift of Susan (Mom) will be forever cherished, and she will always reside in our hearts. Although we miss her physical presence and her messages ending in “Love you, God Bless”, we find great comfort and solace knowing that she is forever in God’s peaceful and comforting presence.

A Celebration of Life will be held in June at one of Mom’s favorite spots – Sunset Beach in Brentwood Bay, BC. Further details to be shared.

We would like to thank our friends, family and the ICU staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital.
We are deeply grateful for your love, care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any Senior’s Charity.
