Default title

It’s with a deep sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Walter Smith, born December 31, 1959 and who left us on April 2, 2025.  A few of Roy’s many pleasures in life were diving, golfing, and riding his electric bike.  He served in the Canadian Navy for 3 years as a young man through which he enjoyed many adventures in other countries. In his working career, Roy held many positions over his 32 years of service at Island Health.  After retiring he enjoyed getting to know people while exploring Victoria. He befriended many in the unhoused community and became a confidante and advocate on their behalf.  Roy loved thinking deeply about the mysteries of life and enjoyed listening and sharing stories on these topics.  Roy will be missed by all the people who’s life he touched. He left behind 4 siblings, Barbara (Murray), Patti (Allan), Gary, Alan and Don (Stepfather). He is predeceased by his sister Donna and Mother Shirley and his beloved dog Bailey.  He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of life at a later date with the family in Calgary, Alberta and he will be interred at Calgary’s Queen’s Park Cemetery.
