Andrea Jean Gee

Andrea Jean Gee

Andrea Jean Gee (née Allbutt), aged 90, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, at the Sidney Care Home, Sidney, British Columbia. She was born on August 7 1934, in Birmingham, United Kingdom, to Victor Oliver Allbutt and Ada Elsie Allbutt (née Branson). She married Robin Charles Norman Gee on January 14 1961 in Hampstead, UK. Andrea immigrated to Canada, along with her two oldest children in 1964 to join her husband in Northern Ontario. Andrea lived in a number of Canadian provinces before settling on Haida Gwaii (formerly the Queen Charlotte Islands) where she lived for some 30 years. Andrea then joined her son Edward and his family on Vancouver Island. Andrea had a lifelong passion for learning, graduating from Battersea College of Technology in 1958 before working at a hospital as a chief dietitian in London. Her love of learning combined with a love for languages moved her to study French, Spanish, German and Russian over the years. Andrea was a quiet, gentle person, kind and diplomatic to the end, never taking sides, always giving the benefit of the doubt. She was not one to wear her emotions on her sleeve and with quiet resilience endured whatever trials and tribulations that came her way without complaint. She was passionate about the scriptures and loved sharing her knowledge of the bible’s teachings and its promise of God’s kingdom with others. She is survived by her 4 children : Adrian (Caren Heine), Katharyn (Louis Savoie), Henry and Edward (Ellen Crystal); her 7 grandsons: Sheldon, Keith, Jeffrey, Cam, Ben, Riley and Cooper ; and 5 great grandchildren: Félix, Scarlett, Marilou, Gabrièle and Ollie. Memorial services will be held at a future date.
