Anne Elizabeth Paxton, born August 19, 1952, passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 30, 2022. She grew up in Richmond Hill, Ontario before moving to Victoria, British Columbia in her 20s. Anne instantly fell in love with the ocean and mountains, walking along Dallas Road and other beaches as often as she could. She spent her working career employed by the provincial government as a legislative assistant for the NDP. Anne enjoyed this work immensely and cared deeply about the friendships she made along the way.
Anne is survived and missed dearly by her children Liam (MacKinley) and Cait (Stephanie), step-children Sarah (Scott) and Josh (Melissa) and their mother Donyne, and of course her turtle Lamonte and cat Cheena. Her kindness, patience, and perseverance live on in her children, grandchildren Evan, Edison, Hatley, and Francis, and everyone else whose lives she so beautifully graced. Anne now joins her father Stuart, mother Celestine (Lowndes), brother Michael, sister Cathy (Horlick), and dear friend Nana Ruth.
Our family extends their sincere gratitude to The Heights at Mt. View staff, especially Willow, Jennifer, Brenda, and the amazing care aids who helped care for her over the past three years. We also thank Dr. Attwell and the staff at Victoria General Hospital and the Royal Jubilee Hospital for all their efforts and attention. In lieu of a service, we ask that you remember Anne as she lived — with a genuine smile, heartfelt laugh, and unwavering compassion for everyone she met.
Above all, Anne was a devoted mother who showed her kids everyday how to love unconditionally, to listen deeply, and to appreciate the simplest things in life. We will think of her anytime we are at the ocean and feel the sun shining or the rain falling. Mum, we will miss you forever but take solace in knowing your spirit is once again free to walk with the waves.
I was blessed to have Anne as a neighbour for 5 years. I have so many memories of talking with her while she worked in the garden, taking out the garbage and stopping in for a few minutes that would turn into over an hour, she eventually drove me to work on her way (I was so lucky!), and always the greatest conversations with full hearted laughter. Your mom was/is a magical person. I am richer in my heart for having known her and will always remember her heart and her smile. Lots of love to you Cait and Steph, and my condolences to Liam, Josh and Sarah and their families.
I’m so sorry to hear this news. Anne was such a bright light in the legislative building. She was such a positive human and I just enjoyed her personality. This is a sad time that we lost another good person in this world. Here’s to you, Anne!
Anne was very kind and loving person. Few years working closely brought us even closer. She would share her childhood memories with me. We would talk fashion, love , investment and even future. She would often talk about her lovely daughter and very proud of her son . She would share the excitement showing me Liam’s degree. Then the proud moment of becoming grandma. Many more great moments we had with each other. God bless her. I honour the time spent with her.Amen.
I am sorry to learn of your loss. I worked with Anne and she was so kind and thoughtful A truly beautiful person.

Anne and I were best friends growing up in Richmond Hill. We had great fun together and enjoyed my experiences. I am truly sorry for you all. I can just imagine how much she will be missed. Rest in Pearce Anne.
My condolences to family and friends. Ann was a genuinely devoted member of the legislative team and will surely be missed by all.
Anne truly was so kind. I loved her smile and laugh and stories of her turtle! But kindness is truly what she embodied. My deepest condolences. She will be missed but remembered with great fondness of the 9 years we worked together.
