McAvella, Carol Roberta (Nee Thomson)

Following an extended battle with dementia, it is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Carol Roberta McAvella. Carol was born in Hamilton Ontario and is predeceased by her parents (Robert and Ruth Thomson) and her brother Robert Thomson (Vikki). Carol leaves behind her loving husband and best friend Russell; sons Scott (Karen); Paul (Shelly) and daughter Shannon, as well as her grandaughters Selena and Sheri and 6 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother Gordie (Julie), sister Linda (Jim) and brother Gary (Debbie)

After moving to Vancouver Island in 1978, Carol was very active volunteering for 30 years. She enjoyed travelling and boating, plus spending time in their motorhome travelling to many places.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date in Memory of Carol. Donations may be made towards the Alzheimers/Dementia Research Foundation.

Respectful, caring, and accommodating

I met Leslie the day after my sweet Dad passed away. She was sensitive, respectful, caring, and accommodating.

The service she gave us from start to finish has been above and beyond, with her personally delivering a second urn to us one year later that should have been picked up by another family member.

I have come away from the whole experience with one final thought, I wish my Dad could have met her when he was alive, he would have enjoyed her too!
