It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eldon Neustaeter. He went peacefully on his own terms, surrounded by his family on September 13, 2024, at the age of 57. Eldon’s life was a testament to his passion for technology, his love of travel, and his unwavering commitment to his family and community.

Eldon is survived by his loving wife, Shannon Neustaeter; his cherished daughters, Erin McDermott (Steven Courtney) and Lyndsay McDermott (Tim Ruck); his beloved mother, Nettie Neustaeter; his grandchildren, Calvin and Aubree; and his nieces, Angelea Sweetman (Bryce) and Laura Leaming. He was predeceased by his son, Jordan Neustaeter; his sister, Loretta Leaming; and his father, Dave Neustaeter.

His career began in IT at Price Waterhouse, where he met the love of his life, Shannon. Eldon’s career was marked by his enthusiasm for technology, from his early overseas work in Doha, Qatar, to his role as a partner at Sharp’s Audio Visual for 13 years. He moved to Sidney, BC, in 2018 and quickly fell in love with Vancouver Island. In 2021 he found his perfect job with the Town of Sidney at the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP detachment, a role he loved and found most rewarding both personally and professionally.

Eldon was a true travel junkie who thrived on having his next trip lined up. His spirit of adventure was matched only by his commitment to giving back. Throughout his life, Eldon was a dedicated volunteer, always believing in the importance of leaving things better than he found them. His contributions to so many organizations reflect his deep-rooted desire to enhance his community and support causes close to his heart.

One of Eldon’s most remarkable qualities was his ability to always seek out the good in every situation. Always ready with a friendly smile and eager to lend a hand, Eldon’s generosity and kindness touched everyone who knew him. His positive outlook and focus on the bright side left a lasting impression on his community and inspired those around him.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honour Eldon’s memory on September 24, 2024, in Calgary, and on September 28, 2024, in Sidney. Details of these services will be shared with family and friends.

Eldon’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, his enduring impact on his community, and the cherished memories he leaves with his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
