In Loving Memory Gerald F Hodgson, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend to so many passed away peacefully on August 15th, 2023 at the Island View Place Care Unit in Victoria BC. Dad lived a full life just shy of what would be his 93rd birthday in their 70th year of marriage. Gerald is survived by his loving wife Barbara; three sons Peter, Geoffrey, Tony, grandchildren Kimberley
Kate Darryl Greg and James, great grandchild Lily Alivia Oliver Gemma and Kylan. Gerald was born in Kings Langley England, marrying Barb who lived just around the corner. In early 1950’s Dad and mom were married and decided to move to Canada offering a great new life. Once arriving in Toronto they started a family, having three sons. In the mid 1960’s Barb took quick trip to see her best friend in Vancouver British Columbia, when she returned, packing commenced and told Gerald were off, were moving to BC. Gerald was a little surprised but the move was in motion. Arriving to Vancouver in that summer, Gerald was not happy with the employment availible so he decided to start his own business. That business carried him. his children and numerous staff till his retirement in 1986. Gerald employed many and always respected in his trade as extremely knowledgable and loved for
being fair and caring through out his career. Once Gerald retired they choose to move to Saanich BC. For the next 27 vears
Gerald enjoyed a loving home on a farm like setting, growing everything he choose. During this time Gerald decided in his spare time to make Cello’s, his wood working skills were beyond exceptional and he created a number of Cello’s and Viola’s. to this day his children and grand children now play. Gerald in his retirement also received his Ham Radio License and became very involved Mariners Net up and down the coast of
BC, meeting many boating friends. Gerry and Barb thoroughly loved and enjoyed sailing meeting friends at every stop, spending large portion of their time in the Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound and trips to Alaska on Kluane, Sailing in most Georgia Strait races and Swiftsures accompanied
with and always at Barb’s side challenging the sea’s.
We love you so much Gerald Dad Grandad .. Papa……..
Sleep now and we will take care of each other from here on.
There will be a celebration of life in Fall 2023
