James Allan (Al) Durno passed away peacefully on October 30, 2022 in Victoria, BC at the age of 91 after a long happy life. Survived by beloved wife Sally Ann (nee Becker) after a 69 year marriage, children Janet (Mike, deceased), Bill (Barb) and John (Sarah), and grandchildren Evan (Agnes), Megan and Jack. Al was born in Calgary on December 20, 1930. He received a BSc in chemical engineering from the University of Alberta, and worked as a chemical engineer/manager with CIL and AT Plastics in Edmonton, Montreal, Brampton and England. Al loved to travel, adventuring with Sally to Hawaii, Southeast Asia, England and Italy as well as hiking and cross-county skiing in the Rockies. Above all, Al loved spending time with the family. Our sincere thanks to Drs Francois and Marlene Muller, Berwick House staff, and all doctors and healthcare personnel at the RJH and Victoria Hospice for their loving care. No service at Al’s request. Please no flowers.

Respectful, caring, and accommodating

I met Leslie the day after my sweet Dad passed away. She was sensitive, respectful, caring, and accommodating.

The service she gave us from start to finish has been above and beyond, with her personally delivering a second urn to us one year later that should have been picked up by another family member.

I have come away from the whole experience with one final thought, I wish my Dad could have met her when he was alive, he would have enjoyed her too!
