It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Richard Dufferin Lang, (73), of Victoria, BC, who passed away on April 26th 2024 after a prolonged illness.
Richard, fondly known as Duff, was born in Hamilton, Ontario. He was a talented athlete who loved playing sports especially hockey and his devotion to his Habs never faded. He was an exceptional student and went on to get his Masters Degree in Business and Finance. After graduating, he worked for several companies including IBM and travelled to many countries on behalf of the company including Europe, Asia, South America and the US. He eventually came to Victoria as President of Maximus Canada where he expanded the company while supporting several charities though community events. He worked long hours but always made time to tend to his rose garden and often would be seen riding his John Deere tractor in the wee hours of the morning. He embodied the best of qualities: compassion, strength of spirit, determination and generosity, all evident in his work relationships, and through his love for his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Doroni, his devoted daughter Jesse (Bryan) adoring grandchildren, Jordan and Ava, his sister Georgina (Marinus), brother Jon (Lynda) and a host of friends and family who will miss him and his radiant smile dearly.
A Celebration of Richard’s Life will take place later this summer. Details to be announced.
I’m sorry for your loss. I worked for Maximus while Duff was the President of Maximus. He was well respected by everyone. I loved that he acknowledged each employee by a round thru the office to wish each one of us a Merry Christmas or a Happy Easter every year. His kindness always reflected in everything he did. Duff will be greatly missed.
