Waltraut (Wally) Schnarr: Aug. 18, 1931 – Dec. 27, 2023

Waltraut (Wally) Schnarr passed away peacefully on Dec. 27, 2023 at age 92. She (Mause) was predeceased by her husband, Gunter (Bube). She is survived by her nephew, Randolf, and her nieces; Belinda (Mike), Diana (David), Bettina (Vince) and Alishia (Tony). She also leaves behind her dearest friends, Valerie and Brian. Wally was born in Poland, but grew up in Berlin, Germany. She and Gunter lived a short time in Australia before settling in Canada. They loved living in Sidney tending to their well established garden. They also loved nature as can be seen by the tribute to them on a plaque in Mount Work Regional Park. Wally will be sorely missed as she was very outgoing and easily made friends.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Peninsula Health Unit including home support workers and Case Managers, Shoal Centre volunteer services, Skyview unit at Gorge Road Hospital, Saanich Peninsula Hospital staff, Red Cross, and many other healthcare providers. You made it possible for Wally to thrive and enjoy her long life!

Respectful, caring, and accommodating

I met Leslie the day after my sweet Dad passed away. She was sensitive, respectful, caring, and accommodating.

The service she gave us from start to finish has been above and beyond, with her personally delivering a second urn to us one year later that should have been picked up by another family member.

I have come away from the whole experience with one final thought, I wish my Dad could have met her when he was alive, he would have enjoyed her too!
